Select the driving route
When transporting dangerous chemicals, it is advisable to choose national trunk roads or expressways that are far from towns and residential areas and have smooth roads. It is strictly prohibited to drive on roads with complex conditions or to stop and rest or have meals on urban streets or in residential areas. Especially for hazardous chemical tank vehicles, as the tank bodies are all exposed, it is recommended to rest during the day and drive at night in hot weather to prevent the expansion of liquids. In case of bad weather such as rain, fog, ice and snow, try not to arrange trips.
The selection of parking locations
Vehicles carrying dangerous chemicals must not be parked in schools, markets, historical sites, scenic spots and other places. If it is necessary to carry out loading and unloading operations or temporary parking in the above-mentioned areas, safety measures should be taken and the consent of the local relevant departments should be obtained. When parking, someone should be left to watch over the vehicle. Unauthorized personnel are not allowed to approach the vehicle. Ensure that both the vehicle and the person are present to guarantee the safety of the vehicle.
Safe driving
Vehicle operation must strictly abide by traffic, fire control, public security and other regulations. The vehicle speed should be controlled, a distance from the vehicle in front should be maintained, and the vehicle should slow down in advance when encountering situations to avoid emergency braking. Illegal overtaking is strictly prohibited to ensure driving safety. When driving on expressways, one should follow the designated lanes and must not overtake or change lanes at will. When encountering bad weather such as rain, fog, ice and snow, increase the driving distance. If the vehicle skids, do not sharply turn the steering wheel.
Check frequently during the drive
The safety hazards in the transportation of dangerous chemicals start from leakage. Due to the jolting and vibration of vehicles during driving, it is often easy to cause packaging damage, and the damage is usually concentrated in three points:
The bucket lid is not tightened or the sealing ring fails;
The weld seams and the ribs of the iron drum were damaged due to friction.
The bottom of the bucket was damaged due to displacement during driving.
Therefore, every two hours of driving, check if there is any overflow on the bucket lid. Tighten it again with a special wrench. If the sealing ring fails, replace it. Has the filling material between the iron barrels fallen off? Check if there is any leakage of liquid around the bottom of the carriage. If there is, find the leakage bucket and point the leakage point upwards. Whether the binding rope is loose, etc.
It is worth noting that during the hot season, liquids will expand. When replacing the sealing ring, open it slowly. Wait until the gas is released before fully opening it to avoid opening the cover too quickly and the liquid spraying out and injuring people.
How should the leakage of hazardous chemicals be dealt with?
In case of emergency situations such as vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or cargo spillage, the goods should be properly handled in accordance with the corresponding emergency response plans and operating procedures based on their different properties, including explosion, flammability, corrosiveness, high toxicity, and radioactivity.
(2) If a vehicle obstructs traffic and is difficult to move, the hazard warning lights should be turned on as required. Warning signs should be set up 50 to 100 meters behind the vehicle on ordinary roads and 150 meters behind the vehicle on expressways. At night, both the outline lights and the rear position lights should be turned on simultaneously.
(3) When it is impossible to handle the situation in the early stage, the vehicle should be parked in an open area as far away as possible from people and water sources. A report should be made in a timely manner. When reporting, the name, shape, quantity and leakage situation of the dangerous goods should be detailed to facilitate the relevant departments to handle the situation effectively at the first time.
