Six key points to note for newly purchased dump trucks: The running-in period has a significant impact on the service life and fuel consumption of the vehicle. The wear during the running-in period can cause scratches on the surface of parts, resulting in scars. These rough scars will increase the frictional resistance. They can also accommodate metal shavings, oil sludge and other granular debris. During movement, these debris will further expand the wear and eventually cause malfunctions. Therefore, the quality of running-in determines the lifespan of the entire vehicle.
Six taboos during the running-in period
Avoid emergency braking. Emergency braking not only impacts the braking system during the running-in period but also increases the shock load on the chassis and engine. It is best not to apply emergency braking within the first 300 kilometers of driving.
2. Avoid overloading. If a new car is fully loaded during the running-in period, it may cause damage to its components. Therefore, within the first 1,000 kilometers of driving, the general load should not exceed 75% to 80% of the rated load.
3. Avoid long-distance running
During the running-in period of a new car, if it travels long distances, the continuous working time of the engine will increase, which is likely to cause wear and tear of the components.
4. Avoid driving at high speed. During the running-in period of a new car, there is a speed limit. For domestic cars, it is generally within 40 to 70 kilometers per hour, and for imported cars, it is generally within 100 kilometers per hour. When the accelerator is fully open, the speed should not exceed 80% of the maximum speed. During driving, pay attention to observing the engine tachometer and speedometer to ensure that the car operates at a medium speed. Under normal circumstances, the engine speed during the running-in period should be between 2000 and 4000 revolutions per minute.
5. Avoid changing the oil too early. The initial oil installed in a car is a special lubricating oil for the running-in period, which requires low viscosity, good heat dissipation, excellent cleaning ability and superior oxidation resistance. Some car manufacturers also add grinding agents that are beneficial for running-in. Therefore, during the running-in period, it is only necessary to change the oil at the time specified by the manufacturer. Do not change it too early.
6. Avoid not warming up the car before starting. Before starting a new car, it is essential to warm it up. Warming up actually means giving the engine sufficient lubrication time. Especially for turbocharged models, they must be warmed up before starting, and the lubrication time should be at least one minute.
